Choose first, then prepare the right test

Start with the route's required skills and CEFR level. Four-skill Academic and General tests and the two-skill A1-A2-B1 suite are not interchangeable.

Core concepts

Concept 1

General SELT reports A2-C1 on the 0-100 Global Scale, including 20-39 for A2, 40-59 for B1, 60-74 for B2 and 75-89 for C1.

Exam cue: Compare each skill with the route-specific requirement rather than only the overall outcome.

Concept 2

Current UKVI tables list at least 40 per skill for B1, 60 for B2 and 75 for C1; the controlling route decides which level applies.

Exam cue: Distinguish the product's A2 reporting band from the current route threshold.

Concept 3

Every relevant skill must meet the threshold, and the Candidate URN supports secure result verification.

Exam cue: Verify approved product, location, Candidate URN and application date.

Risk pitfalls and guardrails

Assuming an A2 overall result proves a route that requires four skills at B1 or B2.

Guardrail: Use a 15-second safety pause before finalizing your action.

Averaging a low component against higher scores.

Guardrail: Use a 15-second safety pause before finalizing your action.

Using a certificate without checking the secure result reference and validity period.

Guardrail: Use a 15-second safety pause before finalizing your action.

Memory anchors

A2 Twenty

General SELT reports A2 from 20 on the Global Scale.

B1 Forty

Current B1 four-skill UKVI use requires 40 per required skill.

B2 Sixty

Current B2 four-skill UKVI use requires 60 per required skill.

C1 Seventy-Five

Current C1 four-skill UKVI use requires 75 per required skill.

Candidate URN

Use the Candidate URN for secure verification.

Two Years

The SELT result must fall within the immigration validity window.

Checkpoint rule

Do the check-up only after you can summarize each concept in one sentence and identify one dangerous pitfall from memory.

Knowledge Check (after reading)

Short check-up to confirm understanding of this module.

Check-up Questions

1-2 question checkpoint

On General SELT, which Global Scale interval is reported as A2?

What per-component score corresponds to the current B1 floor for four-skill UKVI use?

Answer all questions to submit.
