Prepare only the Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking tasks in that product.

Protect identity consistency, approved-centre status, Candidate URN and the two-year validity window.

Key rules
Rule 1
Academic SELT is a secure four-skill test delivered at a SELT test centre; an ordinary Academic result is not automatically interchangeable for immigration evidence.

The product reports B1-C2, while the Student route and sponsor determine the minimum level and whether a SELT is required.

Rule 3
Below-degree Student use normally points to B1 and degree-level use to B2, but compliant higher education providers and courses control their own evidence requirements.

Which tests belong under the LANGUAGECERT SELT slug?
The current UKVI-approved family comprises LANGUAGECERT Academic SELT, LANGUAGECERT General SELT and LANGUAGECERT International ESOL SELT Speaking & Listening at A1, A2 or B1. This guide intentionally keeps them under one slug while preserving their separate formats.
What skills does Academic SELT assess?
Academic SELT assesses Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking, reports B1-C2 and lasts approximately 2 hours 34 minutes. It is the academic-English SELT associated with Student visa use, but the sponsor and course instructions remain controlling.
What skills does General SELT assess?
General SELT assesses Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking, reports A2-C1 and lasts approximately 2 hours 22 minutes. Its tasks use general-interest, everyday and workplace contexts and it is associated with four-skill work-route use.
What is International ESOL SELT now?
It is the current two-skill suite: separate A1, A2 and B1 Speaking & Listening tests for specified family, extension, settlement and citizenship routes. It is not one multilevel test and it is not a current four-skill booking.
What happened to the old four-skill International ESOL SELT?
GOV.UK states that from 6 July 2025 it was replaced in the approved-test framework by Academic SELT and General SELT. An older approved result can remain valid for two years, but the former product must not be presented as a current booking option.
How are Academic and General SELT scores reported?
Each skill and the overall result use the 0-100 LANGUAGECERT Global Scale. General reports A2-C1 and Academic reports B1-C2. Current UKVI tables show 40 per required skill for B1, 60 for B2 and 75 for C1.
Can a high overall score compensate for one low skill?
No when the route requires that skill. GOV.UK requires all relevant components from the combined assessment to meet the required level with the same provider. Track Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking separately.
How is the two-skill test scored?
LanguageCert currently publishes a 60/100 minimum for UK visa use on each booked A1, A2 or B1 International ESOL SELT Speaking & Listening test. The route determines which of those separate levels to book.
Can I use an ordinary LanguageCert exam for UKVI?
Not automatically. The product must be one of the approved SELT names, taken at an approved location and produce the Candidate URN used for secure verification. Ordinary Academic, General, International ESOL and LTE products are outside this slug.
Which level do I need?
There is no universal LANGUAGECERT SELT pass level. The immigration route determines whether two or four skills are required and the CEFR target. Sponsors, courses and professional bodies may also set higher component requirements.
Where must I take a LANGUAGECERT SELT?
At a currently approved secure SELT test location. A normal LanguageCert centre or online exam is not automatically an approved UKVI session. Check the current GOV.UK and LanguageCert centre lists before booking.
What identity evidence is required?
Booking details must match the permitted identity evidence. GOV.UK normally requires a current, valid, original photo document at the test location; its current guidance also provides an in-UK eVisa verification route without showing a physical document.
What is a Candidate URN?
It is the LANGUAGECERT SELT unique reference shown on the Test Report. The visa application uses it so the Home Office can verify the result through the provider's secure system.
How long can a LANGUAGECERT SELT result be used for UKVI?
GOV.UK requires an approved SELT result to have been awarded within the two years before the application date. The exact route and application date still control.
Is LANGUAGECERT still approved after 2026?
The provider announced in March 2026 that its current UKVI SELT agreement was extended through November 2027 for the ESOL, General and Academic SELT suite.
Why is one full mock disabled for this slug?
The slug contains two different four-skill multilevel formats and three separate two-skill single-level formats. Combining them into one mock would invent a test that LanguageCert does not administer. Use the official practice material for the exact booked product.
