Start with the route's required skills and CEFR level. Four-skill Academic and General tests and the two-skill A1-A2-B1 suite are not interchangeable.
Core concepts
Concept 1
Part 1 asks the candidate to answer questions about themselves.
Exam cue: Listen for the exact information requested: identity, routine, preference, experience or plan.

The amount of detail and language complexity should be appropriate to the booked CEFR level.
Exam cue: Answer first, then extend only as the level and question support.
Concept 3
A direct answer followed by one relevant detail usually communicates more effectively than a memorised speech.
