What does the journeyman electrician exam cover?
It covers NEC definitions and theory, services, feeders, branch circuits, wiring methods, equipment, motors, controls, special occupancies, and renewable energy technologies.
Is this tied to one state?
The study map is weighted from the public Texas TDLR/PSI journeyman electrician outline, while the topic set is useful for many NEC-based state and local journeyman exams.
Is the exam open book?
TDLR states its electrician exams are open book. Texas uses the 2023 NEC through August 31, 2026 and changes to the 2026 NEC on September 1, 2026; candidates should verify the edition and book rules for their own test date and jurisdiction.
Is the Texas journeyman exam one 80-question test?
No. Since March 11, 2025, Texas has administered separate NEC Knowledge and Calculations portions. The current PSI bulletin lists 59 items for Knowledge and 26 for Calculations, including five non-scored items across the two portions. This site's 80-question mock is a combined study set, not a replica of one testing appointment.

The public journeyman outline gives the most items to wiring methods/materials and branch-circuit calculations/conductors, so the 601-question bank follows that emphasis.
