Common Passenger Transport Manager CPC questions
Who uses the Passenger Transport Manager CPC?
It is the professional-competence qualification route for people who will continuously and effectively manage passenger transport operations under a standard operator licence. Great Britain guidance requires a professionally competent person for standard national and standard international PSV licences.
Is this the same as the Road Haulage Transport Manager CPC?
No. Passenger transport and road haulage are separate qualifications. GOV.UK says a person intending to manage both operation types must pass both.
Is it Driver CPC?
No. Transport Manager CPC concerns professional competence for managing the undertaking. Driver CPC concerns the professional qualification of drivers. The roles and requirements are distinct.
What is the common examination framework?
The legal floor is two compulsory written tests: written questions and written exercises or case studies, normally at least two hours each. GOV.UK summarises the current UK qualification as multiple-choice and case-study parts, both of which must be passed.
Does every approved provider use exactly the SEG structure?
Do not assume so. The two-part rule and statutory content are common, while the detailed figures here are explicitly SEG's current public structure and are cross-checked against NLTC. The chosen provider's current booking and candidate instructions control.
What does the current SEG multiple-choice component involve?
P1 is currently 60 questions in 120 minutes for 60 marks, delivered quarterly on paper or online. The public sample uses four options with one correct response. The component is closed book, and the current guide permits a dictionary and calculator.
What does the current SEG case study involve?
P2 provides a passenger-transport scenario and asks candidates to apply knowledge through explanations, procedures, instructions, systems or policy analysis, calculations, tables or schedules. It is 135 minutes and 60 marks, and candidates should show calculations and follow every command verb.
Is the P2 pass mark always 30?
SEG calls 30 a notional pass mark. Its June 2026 Chief Examiner report says the P2 threshold is set through the awarding process and was 30 in that series. Candidates should not treat a notional mark as immutable.
Will every case paper have six questions?
That is not published as a fixed rule. The June 2026 booklet happened to contain six numbered questions, but future papers may organise the 60 marks differently.
What are the eight statutory subject families?
Civil law, commercial law, social law, fiscal law, business and financial management, access to the market, technical standards and operational aspects, and road safety.
Which topics are particularly passenger-specific?

Do I need a driving licence or a minimum age?
GOV.UK says no driving licence is required and the exam can be taken at any age. Provider registration rules can differ; SEG registers learners from 16 and notes that regulators are highly unlikely to accept someone under 18 as an appropriate transport manager.
Does the certificate expire?
It is generally a lifetime qualification, but that does not freeze professional competence. A transport manager must remain of good repute and keep knowledge current; regulators can require refresher training or take action where competence is not demonstrated.
Does one regulatory guide apply identically across the UK?
No. The qualification route is UK-wide, but the cited PSV operator-licensing guide is for Great Britain. Northern Ireland operator licensing is administered separately, so local current guidance must be checked.
Why are no subject weights shown?
The current official sources do not publish a subject-by-subject live question or mark distribution across the eight families. The planned 601-item allocation is an internal Pass Harbor content plan, not an official weighting.
Why is full-mock mode disabled?
The qualification includes separately administered extended written case work, open-book conditions and an awarding process. A generic in-app quiz cannot honestly reproduce the full current assessment, so preparation is limited to transparent study and original practice modes.
