Which current specifications does this guide support?
It supports the written common core of AQA 8582, Pearson Edexcel 1PE0, Cambridge OCR J587 and WJEC Eduqas C550QS in England. Confirm the exact qualification code, specification version and components used by the learner's centre.
Does this module cover the complete GCSE qualification?
No. It covers theory learning and preparation for the written assessment, worth 60%. The remaining 40% is AO4 non-exam assessment of practical performance and performance analysis.
Does this guide create practical sessions, a PEP, an AEP or performance evidence?

They are examinable theory. Learners may classify, compare, calculate, apply or evaluate them in writing, but this guide does not instruct a learner to perform a test, complete a programme or generate assessed practical evidence.
Is the written paper identical across boards?
No. AQA uses two 1 hour 15 minute papers, Pearson Edexcel uses 1 hour 30 minutes plus 1 hour 15 minutes, OCR uses two 1 hour papers, and Eduqas uses one 2 hour paper. Marks, grouping, calculators, command words and named detail also vary.
What theory is common to every current board?
The DfE common content covers applied anatomy and physiology, movement analysis, physical training, use of data, sport psychology, socio-cultural influences, and health, fitness and well-being. Boards organise and extend these areas differently.
Does the current full course still assess three practical activities?
Yes. The standing national model uses three activities, including one team activity and one individual activity, with the third chosen from either category. That fact defines the qualification boundary only; this module creates no activity or assessment content.
Does this module support the GCSE PE short course?
No. It is mapped to the full-course national subject content and the four full GCSE routes. A short-course specification has a different assessment model and must be treated separately.
Does AQA's athletics update for summer 2027 change this theory guide?
No. AQA's change makes the 300 metres and 300 metres hurdles available to boys and girls in practical athletics from summer 2027. It does not change the DfE written common core covered here.
How should changing participation or anti-doping examples be used?
Attach a source and date. Check current Sport England data for participation and the current UKAD or WADA Prohibited List and rules for anti-doping rather than treating an old statistic, substance status or case as permanent.
Is the health content personal medical advice?
No. It explains GCSE relationships among activity, fitness, diet, well-being and risk. It must not be used to diagnose, prescribe treatment or replace individual advice from a qualified professional.
