Which current specifications does this guide support?
It supports the written common core of AQA 8585, Cambridge OCR J309 and WJEC Eduqas C560 in England. Confirm the exact qualification code, specification version and component used by the learner's centre.
Why is Pearson Edexcel not listed?
Pearson does not currently offer the reformed England GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition qualification. Its older Design and Technology Food Technology route is not interchangeable with this subject.
Does this module cover the complete qualification?
No. It covers theory learning and preparation for the written component, worth 50%. The other 50% is awarding-organisation-set NEA involving food investigation and practical food preparation under centre supervision.
Does this guide create recipes, menus or practical projects?
No. It contains no assessed recipe project, menu, experimental plan, cooked outcome, photographic evidence, time plan, report, portfolio or evaluation of a learner's own dishes. Cooking methods and techniques appear only as theory that may be assessed in writing.
Why include food-science experiments if practical work is excluded?
Written papers can provide investigation descriptions, tables, graphs or observations and ask learners to interpret variables, patterns, food-science mechanisms and limitations. Analysing supplied evidence is different from creating or documenting an NEA investigation.
Is the written paper identical across boards?
No. AQA and Eduqas use 1 hour 45 minute components, while OCR uses 1 hour 30 minutes. They also differ in section design, question mix, component codes, named examples and mark tariffs.
What food content is common to every board?
The DfE common content covers nutrition and health; food commodities, provenance and choice; food science, cooking effects and safety; plus the relationship between preparation techniques and intended outcomes. Boards organise and name these areas differently.
Which healthy-eating model should be used?
Use the current UK Eatwell Guide for population healthy-eating principles, together with the learner's specification. The model represents balance over a day or week and does not replace tailored clinical advice.
Which food-safety temperatures and allergen rules should be learned?
Learn the stable principles of microbial growth, time and temperature control, the 4Cs, date marks and cross-contact. Verify exact current figures, regulated allergens and label duties with Food Standards Agency guidance and the current board specification.
How should diet-related disease be explained?
Link the dietary exposure to a plausible physiological mechanism and risk, while recognising that complex conditions are multifactorial. GCSE study guidance is not individual diagnosis or treatment advice.
Why is full-mock mode disabled?
The current routes differ in duration, paper delivery, section structure, stimulus placement, named content, question style and mark tariff. Use current official papers for an accurate timed simulation.

No. They are original independent practice questions balanced across 30 theory topics. They are not copied from awarding-organisation papers, and the domain counts are not official paper weightings.
