Start with the route's required skills and CEFR level. Four-skill Academic and General tests and the two-skill A1-A2-B1 suite are not interchangeable.
Core concepts
Concept 1
General Listening keeps the four-part, 30-question structure in everyday-life, general-interest and workplace contexts.
Exam cue: Predict the social or workplace function before choosing a continuation.
Concept 2
Dialogue and conversation items test appropriate continuation, detail, purpose and attitude.
Exam cue: Track corrections, opinions and role relationships.
Concept 3
Monologue note completion permits no more than three words per gap, while discussion items require tracking two speakers.
Exam cue: Use the second playing to confirm spelling, word count and speaker attribution.
