Choose first, then prepare the right test

Start with the route's required skills and CEFR level. Four-skill Academic and General tests and the two-skill A1-A2-B1 suite are not interchangeable.

Core concepts

Concept 1

Listening Parts 1 and 2 use three-option choices; Parts 3 and 4 move into academic monologue, lecture, discussion and note-completion demands.

Exam cue: Predict whether the next answer is a continuation, detail, note phrase or interpretation.

Concept 2

All parts are played twice, allowing a first pass for structure and a second pass for confirmation.

Exam cue: Track speaker role, academic purpose, stance and correction language.

Concept 3

Note completion accepts no more than three words per gap, so meaning, spelling and word count all matter.

Exam cue: Use the second playing to verify rather than restart the whole task.

Risk pitfalls and guardrails

Selecting a plausible continuation that does not fit the dialogue function.

Guardrail: Use a 15-second safety pause before finalizing your action.

Writing more than three words in a note-completion gap.

Guardrail: Use a 15-second safety pause before finalizing your action.

Losing speaker positions during a group discussion.

Guardrail: Use a 15-second safety pause before finalizing your action.
