How to prepare for the CAA A2 CofC
Learn the applicable aircraft route first, then connect weather and performance limits to site planning, separation, practical drills and safe operational decisions.
Core concepts
Concept 1
Pre-flight planning must identify airspace and geographical-zone restrictions, site permissions, obstacles, access routes, uninvolved people and the boundaries needed for safe containment.
Exam cue: Map the aircraft volume, take-off and landing area, people routes, obstacles and contingency space before launch.
Concept 2
Near People (A2) does not permit intentional overflight of uninvolved people and does not authorise flight over assemblies of people.
Exam cue: Separate an individual uninvolved person from an assembly of people, for which the risk and prohibition are stricter.
Concept 3
A changing public environment requires active control measures, a clear abort point and a plan for a person entering the operating area.
Exam cue: Check Flight Restriction Zones and other applicable airspace restrictions even when the landowner has granted access.

A dense gathering where people cannot readily move away must not be overflown in the Open category.
No Overflight
Near People (A2) permits closer operation but not intentional flight over uninvolved people.
