Common City & Guilds 2382-26 questions
Which City & Guilds 2382 qualification is current?
2382-26 is the latest route. It contains unit 626 and is based only on BS 7671:2018+A4:2026. City & Guilds requires centres to use it from 16 April 2026.
What is happening to 2382-22?
2382-22 is the previous Amendment 2 plus May 2023 Corrigendum route. City & Guilds lists its last registration date as 31 July 2026 and its last E-volve opportunity as 15 October 2026. New current-edition preparation should use 2382-26 unless the centre confirms a valid legacy booking.
Why can the A3 Brown Book still be valid for work while 2382-626 requires A4?
They are separate transitions. The IET says BS 7671:2018+A3:2024 remains valid for installation work until 15 October 2026, but City & Guilds specifies A4:2026 as the sole assessment document for unit 626 from 16 April 2026.
What is the 2382-626 exam structure?
It is one 60-item E-volve online multiple-choice test lasting 120 minutes. It is open book, graded Pass/Fail and the handbook describes the pass mark as approximately 60%.
How are the 60 questions distributed?
The public specification assigns LO1–LO8 counts of 4, 2, 6, 15, 14, 4, 7 and 8. The handbook reports corresponding rounded weights of 7%, 3%, 10%, 25%, 23%, 7%, 12% and 13%.
What may I take into the assessment?
Candidates require the BS 7671:2018+A4:2026 Orange Book and a non-programmable calculator. City & Guilds allows blank or chapter-numbered bookmarks, highlighting and short cross-references, subject to centre inspection.
What markings are not allowed in the Orange Book?
The handbook prohibits sample exam questions, answers, additional diagrams, detailed notation and other notes that could provide an unfair advantage. The centre makes the final decision and may require a clean copy where suitability is doubtful.
What changed in Amendment 4?
The IET highlights a new stationary-secondary-batteries chapter, functional earthing and functional equipotential bonding for ICT, a new Power over Ethernet section, a major revision of medical locations and associated model-form changes. The consolidated Orange Book incorporates all previous amendments.
Does this guide reproduce BS 7671?

Are there formal entry requirements?
No formal entry qualification is specified. The handbook says learners must be at least 16, centres must judge their potential and opportunity, and basic electrical-science knowledge is expected.
Who is 2382-26 designed for?

Does passing 2382-26 prove practical competence?

Does the 601-question allocation describe the real exam?
No. It is a planned Pass Harbor practice allocation scaled across the eight public outcomes. The official assessment remains 60 questions with the published 4/2/6/15/14/4/7/8 distribution.
