Is this an official CIPS course or examination?

No. This is an independent study resource aligned to CIPS's public qualification, syllabus and assessment information. It is not endorsed by CIPS and does not reproduce secure live examination questions or pre-released exam themes.

Which Level 6 modules are compulsory?

The four core modules are L6M1 Strategic Ethical Leadership, L6M2 Global Commercial Strategy, L6M3 Global Strategic Supply Chain Management, and L6M4 Future Strategic Challenges for the Profession. Together they provide 42 credits.

Which electives can I choose?

Choose any three six-credit electives from L6M5 Strategic Programme Leadership, L6M7 Commercial Data Management, L6M8 Innovation in Procurement and Supply, L6M9 Supply Network Design, L6M10 Global Logistics Strategy, and L6M11 Environmental, Social and Governance Principles. There is no current L6M6 module in the published route.

Why does this guide contain 10 modules when the award requires seven?

The official route combines all four core modules with three of six electives. This guide preserves every elective syllabus so it can support any valid route. A candidate completes seven modules, not all 10.

What changed in the current Level 6 syllabus?

L6M11 Environmental, Social and Governance Principles is the new sixth elective and is available from the March 2026 exam series. The current February 2026 syllabus also updates ESG, ED&I, technology and strategic-risk content across the core and other elective modules.

How are the four core modules assessed?

All four are closed-book constructed-response modules with essay-style questions worth 25 marks each and a 50% pass mark. L6M1, L6M2 and L6M3 last three hours. L6M4 lasts two hours, uses a pre-released theme and should be taken last. The public specification table publishes learning-outcome counts and per-question marks but does not clearly state an exact CR question count, so this guide does not claim one.

How are the elective modules assessed?

Each elective is a 90-minute closed-book objective-response exam with a 70% pass mark. The current specification assigns 35 one-mark multiple-choice or multiple-response items, two short scenarios containing ten one-mark items each, and one scenario containing five one-mark items, for 60 items and marks.

How are questions distributed across learning outcomes?

The current public sources do not publish an official learning-outcome weighting. This independent bank assigns 421 single-answer practice questions across the four compulsory modules and 30 to each of the six available electives, with every published outcome covered. These are internal study allocations, not CIPS exam weightings.

Why do total exam hours appear as both 15 and 15.5?

The qualification page, syllabus and specification summary publish 15 total exam hours. However, the detailed module durations total 11 hours across the four core exams plus 4.5 hours for three selected electives, or 15.5 hours. The same detailed rows total 334.5 self-study hours, so 250 GLH plus 334.5 self-study plus 15.5 assessment equals the published 600 TQT. This guide preserves both figures and uses module duration for planning.

Which qualification accreditation number is correct?

The current CIPS qualification webpage prints 603/39256/3, but the current February 2026 CIPS syllabus, 2026 specification and UK government qualification record all identify 603/3926/3. This guide uses 603/3926/3 and records the webpage typo.

Why is the L6M5 third learning outcome labelled as culture here?

The current syllabus contents page and module purpose identify L6M5 outcome 3 as the role of culture in programme success. The detailed page repeats the outcome 1 heading, 'Understand contracting for programmes', above culture criteria 3.1-3.3. This guide resolves that internal page-heading error using the contents, module purpose and criteria.

How many exam opportunities are available?

The Level 6 qualification page says six opportunities each year, while the current general CIPS exams page lists five exam series: March, May, July, September and November. Because dates and module availability are operational, use the live exam schedule and MyCIPS rather than either static count when booking.

Does passing Level 6 automatically award MCIPS?

No. Successful completion makes you eligible to apply. The current specification states that applicants must complete Levels 4, 5 and 6, hold current membership and evidence at least three years of relevant experience in a responsible procurement and supply position. Current ethics requirements also apply to Chartered status.

Does this guide provide an exact full mock?

No. The award uses seven separately assessed modules, includes a three-from-six elective choice, mixes constructed and objective response, and requires a changing pre-released L6M4 theme. The current Pass Harbor framework can support coverage and future practice but does not reproduce this entire route and marking model as one exact mock.

Are the 601 practice allocations official CIPS weightings?

No. The completed bank assigns ten items per mandatory-core credit, adds one item to L6M1 for a 421-item core total and assigns 30 to each of the six alternative electives. The single-answer items train knowledge, application and strategic judgement; they do not reproduce the constructed-response marking model, the exact elective route or any changing L6M4 theme.
