Common CIPS Level 2 questions
Is this an official CIPS course or examination?
No. This is an independent study resource aligned to CIPS's public qualification, syllabus and assessment information. It is not endorsed by CIPS and does not reproduce secure live examination questions.
What are the five current Level 2 modules?
The mandatory modules are L2M1 Introducing Procurement and Supply, L2M2 Procurement and Supply Operations, L2M3 Stakeholder Relationships, L2M4 Systems Technology, and L2M5 Inventory, Logistics and Expediting. Together they provide the required 18 credits.
How is each module assessed?
Each module has a separate computer-based objective-response examination. L2M1 has 72 questions in two hours. L2M2 through L2M5 each have 36 questions in one hour. The current CIPS exam page describes objective-response questions as selecting a response from a list of possible answers.
What is the pass requirement?
CIPS gives objective-response exams a 70% pass mark. The linked Level 2 full specification is more specific: it says 70% must be achieved for each section, where a section is a learning outcome, within the module exam. Candidates must pass all five module exams to receive the qualification.
Why is L2M5 marked as needing assessment-allocation review?
The current linked specification states 36 questions for L2M5 and the current syllabus has three learning outcomes, but the same specification table prints nine questions per learning outcome. Nine times three accounts for only 27 questions. This guide preserves the published value, does not invent an official correction and distributes its 100 L2M5 practice items approximately evenly for internal coverage only.
Why do the current L2M1 page and linked syllabus use different learning-outcome headings?
CIPS's current L2M1 web page describes outcome 1 in terms of analysing added value and outcome 2 in terms of analysing key procurement steps. The currently linked 2018 syllabus PDF uses the older headings 'role of procurement and supply' and 'organisational impact'. The numbered assessment criteria and indicative content remain aligned, so this guide uses current-page framing while preserving all numbered criteria.
How much study time should I plan?
CIPS sets total qualification time at 180 hours: 120 guided learning hours, 54 recommended additional self-study hours and six exam hours. At module level the specification assigns 60 learning hours to L2M1 and 30 to each of L2M2 through L2M5.
When are CIPS objective-response exams available?
The current qualification and exam pages list five examination windows each year: March, May, July, September and November, with September identified as objective-response only on the qualification page. Dates, booking windows, timeslots and delivery options are operational details, so check the live CIPS schedule before booking.
Does this guide provide an exact full mock?
No. The award is earned through five separate module examinations and the published pass condition applies within learning-outcome sections. The current Pass Harbor framework can support future objective-response practice but does not reproduce that five-exam, per-outcome result model as one exact full mock.
Are the 601 practice-question allocations official CIPS weightings?
No. This independent 601-question bank preserves the official 72/36/36/36/36 module proportions as 201/100/100/100/100 for study coverage. It uses the published equal per-outcome figures for L2M1 through L2M4 and an explicitly internal even split for L2M5 because of the official table inconsistency.
