Shear connectors let a concrete slab participate with a steel beam in positive flexure.
Diaphragm Chord
Chord tension and compression form the force couple that resists diaphragm bending moment.
Deep Beam
A deep member develops disturbed compression-strut and tension-tie action rather than ordinary slender-beam behavior.
