Registration, CE & Reportable Events
Regulatory framework questions test who must register, what must be reported, and how associated-person conduct stays supervised.
How to study the SIE
Learn the concept vocabulary first, then drill products, risks, rules, and prohibited-conduct patterns until they feel automatic.
Core concepts
Concept 1
SRO qualification and registration requirements distinguish registered from non-registered persons and define permitted activities.
Exam cue: Ask whether the person is registered, non-registered, associated, or disqualified.
Concept 2
Continuing education includes Regulatory Element and Firm Element requirements.
Exam cue: For conduct outside the firm, decide whether it is an OBA, private securities transaction, gift, or political contribution issue.
Concept 3
Form U4, Form U5, customer complaints, OBAs, private securities transactions, political contributions, gifts, business entertainment, bankruptcies, liens, and statutory disqualification are reportable-event territory.
Exam cue: If a form is misleading or stale, think U4/U5 update and disclosure obligations.
