Core concepts
Concept 1
The first draft must be completed in class under supervision for up to four hours; one draft may receive feedback before the final piece.
Exam cue: Separate permitted general feedback from prohibited supplied wording, ideas, structure or corrections.
Concept 2
The final work must be the candidate’s own, all sources must be acknowledged, and generative AI may only suggest potential source material.
Exam cue: Maintain evidence of planning, sources, drafting and independent revision.
Concept 3
The maximum is 1,000 words with no minimum; exceeding it by more than 10% attracts a penalty.
