How to prepare for Yachtmaster Theory

Concept 1
A position line constrains location; a fix combines suitable near-simultaneous information, while a running fix transfers an earlier observation using vessel movement.
Exam cue: Name each position source, its likely error and whether it shares a common sensor or datum.
Concept 2
Fix quality depends on source error, observation timing, feature identification, geometry, plotting precision and whether the observations are genuinely independent.
Exam cue: Prefer strong intersection angles and near-simultaneous observations.
Concept 3
In confined water the navigator increases fixing frequency, uses transits or clearing lines and compares charted expectations with soundings and visual or radar cues.
Exam cue: Use the fix to make a decision, then state the next monitoring cue and limit.
