Core concepts
Concept 1
Professional accountability means being able to justify decisions, act within competence and raise concerns when safety is threatened.
Exam cue: Protect the person first, then identify the governing duty and correct escalation route.
Concept 2
Consent, capacity, confidentiality, equality, safeguarding and mandatory duties must be applied to the facts of the scenario.
Exam cue: Choose the action that is lawful, proportionate, documented and transparent.
Risk pitfalls and guardrails
Following a local instruction that conflicts with the Code or law.
Guardrail: Do not select a familiar task if it ignores deterioration, consent, medicines risk, scope, communication or follow-up.
Waiting for proof while an immediate safety risk remains.
Guardrail: Choose the action that addresses the most serious current risk before routine assessment, referral or documentation.
