How to prepare for the CAA GVC
Start with the current certificate and authorisation boundary, work through the five official subjects, then apply the material to mission planning, abnormal procedures and post-flight records with your approved RAE(PC).
Core concepts
Concept 1
Official planning information may include the UK AIP, NOTAM, charts, CAA geographical-zone information and published airspace activity sources.
Exam cue: Translate the mission footprint and height into the same coordinates and vertical reference used by the source.
Concept 2
Information must be checked for location, vertical limits, dates, times, controlling authority and applicability to the planned UAS profile.
Exam cue: Record the information checked, its currency and any permission or coordination reference.
Concept 3
A permission to enter one restriction does not remove other restrictions, land-access requirements, authorisation conditions or the remote pilot's collision-avoidance duties.
Exam cue: Recheck time-sensitive information close enough to flight to detect a new restriction.
